In 2020, I had a chance to work with Sheraton Hanoi Hotel in their rebranding project
as an illustrator. I created illustrations for about 60 objects in the theme "AROUND THE WORLD" with some kind of vintage, funny style (as they requested).
So, here is my process, hope you enjoy!
HWEE
As Sheraton is a luxury hotel & restaurant, the design language needs to be fine and clean.
I used only lines and shapes. Lines are used for the main object like the car, boat, map. Shapes are used for the supporting character, which contact with the main object to create
the funny part.
I drew by hand on paper to create the raw but clean feeling with details. By doing that, the objects look real but still exciting, which fit the environment of the restaurant.
Then, I used Image Trace in Adobe Illustrator to create vector from the sketch.
Because they also asked for the watercolor-use in creating value, I did that in Photoshop then put it back to the Illustrator. I also used Image Trace on photographs to make the supporting character.
